A little over a month later, Xiaomi has announced the global edition of MIUI 12.5. The Chinese edition arrived late last year and beta testing has been ongoing since then.

The company announced the new skin at the unveiling of its latest flagship smartphone — the Xiaomi Mi 11. Again, like MIUI 12.5, the Chinese variant of the Mi 11 was unveiled late last year.

The Mi 11 hasn’t received stable MIUI 12.5 update

Folks in China have been trialing MIUI 12.5 on their Mi 11 units and other eligible devices for several weeks now, but there is still no stable rollout. As per the company, the update will be available in China beginning April.

As for the global availability of MIUI 12.5 update, Xiaomi notes that eligible devices can expect the OTAs to begin trickling in Q2 2021, obviously after Chinese variants bag it.

The rollout will start off with the Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and of course, the Mi 11.

The midrange Redmi Note 9 series is also in line for an early update to MIUI 12.5.

But perhaps the most interesting inclusion are the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro. As part of the MIUI 12.5 update, the duo will also be upgraded to Android 11 OS.

This, as you may already know, is against the norm with Redmi devices. Typically, Xiaomi sends out only one OS update to Redmi devices, but the update to Android 11 is the second for the Note 8 series.

MIUI 12.5 update rollout schedule

After the premium Mi 10 and Mi 11 receive the MIUI 12.5 update, Xiaomi will turn attention to the likes of Mi 10 Lite, Mi 10T Lite, Mi Note 10, and Mi Note 10 Lite.

As for the midrange family, the entire Redmi Note 9 series and Redmi Note 8 Pro are set to bag the update somewhere deep into Q2 2021 followed by the Redmi 9 series.

Of course, the list above is far from complete, which is why Xiaomi notes that more devices will be added to the schedule at a later time. We will keep an eye on this and let you know.
