Samsung has stepped up its game with its software updates this year by a lot and yesterday also announced that it will be rolling out 4 years of security updates for certain models.

As for major updates, the company has already released the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update for a bunch of devices and has also started rolling out the new One UI 3.1 skin to some models such as the S20 series.

The One UI 3.1 update first went live for Samsung Galaxy S20 users in Korea and then began making its way over to handsets sold in the Netherlands.

And now it appears that the South Korean giant has begun rolling out the One UI 3.1 update for the S20 series — Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra — in India.

The update bears the firmware version number G98xFXXU6DUB5 and weighs 1246.69 MB. A couple of users have confirmed receiving the update via posts (1, 2) on the company’s community forums.

This new update has also been captured on SamMobile’s database, however, Samsung it yet to update its official page to reflect the One UI 3.1 rollout for the Samsung Galaxy S20 series in India.

Of course, the update brings the usual features and improvements that are part of the new skin. But Samsung has surprisingly also enabled the eSIM support for the Galaxy S20 series with the update.

While the Galaxy S20 variants have eSIM support, Samsung had disabled the feature on these devices in several regions including India and the U.S. via the software.

Previously, we had reported that the One UI 3.0 update may enable eSIM support in the U.S. but that did not happen.

Now, since Samsung has enabled eSIM support for Galaxy S20 users in India with the One UI 3.1 update, the chances of the same being enabled in other regions are pretty high.
