OnePlus caused quite the stir when it unveiled its drastically redesigned OxygenOS 11, its Android 11 skin that looked nothing like its predecessors.

As expected with a massive software redesign like that, there were a bunch of issues that arose, afflicting users of devices that bagged it. More on these bugs and issues in our OxygenOS 11 bug tracker.

OnePlus has been pretty forthcoming with bug-fix updates and many of the issues that have been cropping up have since been ironed out.

But we’re still talking about a pretty major software update and there are always going to be issues and bugs afflicting device owners.

Now, it is coming to light that there is yet another issue with the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T devices running Android 11-based OxygenOS 11.

According to a section of users, their devices’ fingerprint starts glitching out following a failed attempt to cast content from their device to an external display.

The fingerprint sensor does not work a lot of times and sometimes the error appears that there is no hardware for fingerprint sensor.

According to these affected users, when this happens, the only way to recover the device is by force-restarting as they are unable to unlock their devices using either a PIN or the unavailable fingerprint.

Woke up my screen and noticed this irritating error. This happened on several occasions. Couldn’t unlock via fingerprint or pin. Had to restart everytime in order to resolve it. This is a major issue which needs to be resolved asap.

This fingerprint issue has since been reported by users of the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and even the OnePlus 8T running various versions of OxygenOS 11.

A OnePlus community expert has since advised affected users to report the bug in the OnePlus Community app. This, he says, will allow the bug hunters to gather the logs and forward them for investigation.

can you report that via the bug report feature in the OnePlus Community app (tap the red + button and select Feedback, then choose bug report). You can also use the Feedback link on the website (https://ift.tt/3c1jygv). The bughunters can gather logs and info and pass for investigation.
